Regular alignment inspections help make sure that your vehicle’s precisely calibrated steering and suspension maintain optimal performance, fuel economy and safety, while at the same time minimizing wear and tear on vital components. Even without nudging curbs or hitting potholes, the simple rigours of everyday driving can cause these systems to fall out of calibration – in the best case causing premature wear of steering and suspension components as well as your tires, and in the worst case making your vehicle unpredictable and unsafe as you travel down the road.

Tread wear bars, or tread indicator bars, are small, raised bars between the tread markings within the grooves of your tires. These indicators are designed to help you determine the health of your tires by showing you how much tire wear is occurring – as they wear down to the level of the tire tread, you can see that your tires need to be replaced.

Sometimes, the health of your tires is easy to assess just by looking. To make sure your tires are in good shape, look for visual signs of damage such as bald patches, evidence of tire wear on the sidewalls, foreign objects embedded in the tire, or anything else out of the ordinary.

Your new vehicle comes standard with all-season tires, which are great in most weather conditions. But when the temperature drops in the winter, the compounds that make up a typical all-season tire get hard and stiff. The result is less grip — even on dry pavement — which means less safety and performance.
When the temperature drops to 7°C or below, the superior adhesion of winter tires begin to make a big difference in any weather condition: They are specially formulated with rubber compounds designed to stay soft, pliable, grip better in the cold and reduce vehicle stopping distances by up to 25 percent — performance that can make the difference between a close call and calling for a tow.
Thanks to special materials and precision design, winter tires are more effective than all-season tires in deep snow and on ice. Deeper tread depths reduce snow buildup on the tire and increased biting edges help maintain traction in slippery conditions.
